MATCHES ARRANGED

The junior advisory committee reported to the management committee of the Wellington Eugby Union last night that it had conferred with Mr. G. F. W. Jackson in regard.to the lower grade competitions, and had adopted his recommendations, uuder which practically every grade would be provided with matches up to and including September 2. Mr. J. Prendeville was iv the chair. The advisory committee also reported that it had been decided to arrange matches for the club representatives against the colleges in the fourth and third grades. If there is sufficient time a town v. country match will be played in the fourth grude, and in the third grade matches will be arranged between the second and third divisions, followed by a match, between the combined second and third divisions and the first-division. PERMITS TO PLAY. Permission was given for the playing of the following matches:—Rongotai College v. Stratford High School, at Stratford, on August 16; Scots College v. Wuirarapa High School, at Scots College, on August 12; Scots College v. Feilding-Agricultural High School, at Feilding, on August 17; Tramways (Traffic) v. Workshops, at Kilbirnie, tomorrow; National' Mutual Life^v, Colonial Mutual Life Assurance, at Wakefield Park, tomorrow; Presbyterian Bible Classes, seven-a-side tournament, at ;Lya)l. Bay, on September 9. Permission was also given, subject to the ground being jn lit condition, for Athletic Park to be used for a match between the Combined Banks and ths Public Service, on September 6. The proceeds will be in aid of the Mayor's Relief Fund. The Wellington primary schools' representatives were given permission to play in the annual tournament with Wairarapa, Manawatu, and Wangamii, at Wangauui, between August IS and "Grants of £20 and £20 los;4d were made to the Wellington and Hutt, Valley Primary Schools' Unions respectively. It was announced that the senior B match set down to be played recently between Wellington College Old Boys-and Miraniav, which was not played, had been awarded to Old Boys by default. The Wellington Free Ambulance and the .tower Hutt Borough Council wrote thanking the union for donation? from the Charity Day proceeds. ■ ■ .It was decided to alter the venue of the Berbampore-Upper Hutt second division match on1 Saturday from Upper Hutt to Prince of Wales Park. A request from the Onslow Club to have their second division match against Johnsonville played on

the Nairnville ground instead of at Johnsonville was refused. The Wanganui Metropolitan Union made a further' request for a Wellington team to play at Wanganui on either September 2 or 0, but the committee decided that it could not accede to the request, as two ■Wellington teams would be engaged on bpth days. In regard to a similar request from Marlborough for a visit on September 9, it was decided that an official team could not be sent, although an unofficial team might be arranged. NEXT WEEK'S GAMES. The fixtures for Saturday week in the first division of the senior A grade will be decided -after Saturday's matches. The other senior fixtures are as follows:— Senior A (Second Division). Onslow v. Petone, at Naii-nvilie, Berhamporo v. Mclrose, in town. Hutt v. Johnsonville, in town. Uppeivllutt v. Miramar, at Upper Hutt. Poneke v. University, at Athletic Park, early. Senior B (all on city grounds). Wellington v. Athletic. ■Marisfc v. Wellington College Old Boys. Miramar v. Porirua. University v. Oriental.
