Tor tho purpose of discussing ways ami means of raising funds to enablo the V.AT.C.A. in Wellington to carry on its worl;, a meeting of representative citizens- will bo held tomorrow right. at 8 o'clock hi- the Concert Hail, Nimmo's Buildings, Willis Street. Tho Mayor (Jlr. T. C. A. Hislop) will preside The official invitation to be present states that' the Wellington V.M.C.A., which, is a character-building centre for many hundreds of boys and ypnng men, and is the centre of activity for Wellington's unemployed youth, is faced' with- the financial position that unless a-, suit) approximating £3000 is raised within a short time, the association will be forced to go out of existence. This would be a calamity for tie youth t)t Wellington and the district. "The V.M.C.A.," states, the invitation, "is a citizens' institution, upheld and earj ried on by citizens' subscriptions and services. For such reason invitations I have been sent ta prominent citizens in, all groups and classes of the community. It is generally, expressed, that a blot would rest on the city jf the V.M.C.A. is compelled to cease operating.
