MIRAMAR CLUB'S FUNCTION
Another: of .the Miramar Boxing Club's popular boxing and social evenings' was held 6u Thursday night, and, although it, is a big statement to make, it is considered to bo the best ever held by the club. After sorno spirited displays of boxing, the ring in the gymnasium, was taken down, and the remainder of the evening was devoted to social purposes, whilo one of the most.popular events of tho night was tho presentation of a handsome bag to Mrs. P. H. Donoghuo -by the committee of the club in recognition of tho assistance and fine work she had dono in the interests of tho club. Songs were given by Mrs. L." Smith (wife of-tho patron), and Messrs. Boss Williams, W. Houtchen, D. Hopa, Morris, and an elocution item by Mr. Len McKay, one of the committee of the Wellington Boxing Association. Mr. E. Dean was at the piano. The following trophies were, awarded: —Lowden Cup, for most scientific and aggressive boxen H. Allott. Murphy and Stewart Cup, -fin' best display in welterweight and middleweight divisions; N. Miller...'Lou Smith Cup, for best lightweight;' J. Donoghuc. Ncwson Cup, /for best featherweight: B. Wood. Aubrey James Cup, for best flywoight: D. Sihdall. Stevens Medal, for best bantamweight: S. Donoghuo. Iv addition, the midgets, K. Hawker and V. Hatchett, T. Ham and W.-Sharmau, E. Loveridgo aridj.E. Bait, and G. Macnamaia and-A. Sharman, did so well that all were awarded a trophy. After the boxing a clever display of aerobatics, was given by two young girls, I. Darrow"and B. Donoghue. The president, Mr. C. Cv Bell, the secretary, Mr. J. C. Troy, and the members 'of the committee, as usual, Worked assiduously io ensure that the visitors enjoyed themselves, and they, succeeded admirably.
