DOMINION TOURNEY
FINAL OFFICIAL REPLY
Mrs. H. A. Poulter, hon. secretary of the Now Zealand Women's Hockey Association, replying to criticism by a Eotorua correspondent, "Fairplay," of the executive's action in allocating theDominion tournament to Danncvirke, states that although she has been Charged with "side-tracking" in the explanation sent to the Eotorua Association, that body has not as yet replied at all to correspondence from, the N.Z.W.H.A. The point raised by Botorua regarding official correspondence is quite incorrect. A private* person in Dannevirke sufficiently interested to wish to havo the information asked for wrote to her in a personal letter, to which she replied in her personal capacity. Furthermore, -this information was given after intimation had been received stating that Euahine intended applying for the tourney. "Had any person in Eotorua wished for the information given to the Buahine enthusiast, the same reply could have beeu obtained on writing to the secretary, N.Z.W.H.A. The fact that the following teams havo entered quite justifies the executive's decision to allot the tourney to Dannevirke:—Auckland, Akitio, Ashburton, Bush, Canterbury, Eastern, Feilding (2), Wairarapa (2), Euahino (2), Taranaki, Marlborough, Wanganui, Wellington, Ota'go, Southland. This is a record number of entries. Never before have so/ many teams from the South Island entered for a tourney held in the North Island." [This subject has now been exhaus- j 'tively discussed in this column, and no useful purpose can be served by. coutinuing the controversy .-r-'' Sticks. ♦']
