STRUCTURAL REPAIRS
MASTERTON FIRE STATION

(Special to the "Evenms Post.") ; MASTERTON, TliisT'Day; At a meeting of the Masterton Fire Board last night it was decided t^,niake Repairs and improvement^ to the firo station at an estimated cost of £500. Much, of the structural repair work to bo carried out has been necessitated through earthquake damage. After full discussion, it was decided to proceed with the work as recommended by the local committee, and in aeco-danee with tho architect's plan and specifications. ' - It was stated that the cost of any repair work would have to como out of ordinary, revenue, and that an. amount' of & 200 had been placed on the estimates this year for that purpose. It was decided to apply to the Loans Board for authority to spend £300 by overdraft, subject to tho approval of tho Minister of Internal Affans. Tho local committee was'authorised, upon receipt of the consent of the Minister and the Loans Board, to call tenders for the work, and to arrange for tho bank overdraft. Approximately £200 will bo spent on labour, and members of the board were opposed to any use being made of the.Unemployment Board's building subsidy scheme.
