DAVIS CUP FINAL
BRITAIN V. FRANCE
DRAW AND PROSPECTS

PARIS, July 27.
The draw for play in the challenge round of the Davis Cup is as follows: — A. Merlin (France) meets H. W. Austin (Britain) and H. Cochet (France) meets F. 3. Perry (Britain) on the first day's play on Friday. The doubles arc not yet announced, but probably J. Borotra and J. Brugnon. will meet F. J. Perry and G. P. Hughes on the second day, which is Saturday.. The /final day's play will be on Sunday, when Cochot will meet Austin and Merlin will meet Perry. Nicolas Redelspergcr, who has umpired the Davis Cup final sines 1928, is broadcasting a commentary instead of umpiring tomorrow. He declares that if Cochet loses ono match Franco is beaten. The choice of Merlin seems daring, though he has more stamina than Boussus or Bernard.
