According to a recent cable received from Magallanes, in Patagonia, Chilean ranches are being forced to slaughter 225,000 sheep for the tallow, there being no outlet for mutton now that restrictions are imposed on imports into Great Britain. Drought conditions caused considerable losses of sheep in Patagonia in the autumn."*. ...
