C.J.C. SUBSCRIPTION

REDUCTION AGREED ON

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

CHRISTCHURCH,. July . 26.

The Canterbury jockey Club decided at a special general meeting today to reduce the annual subscription from five guineas to three guineas. The proposal was made by. Mr. .i\ W. Johnston, and before the meeting a circular was sent out by the treasurer, Mr. George Gould, opposing the motion on the ground that the club's finances could, not bear the reduction.

The meeting lasted two hours, and several , members criticised adversely the administration of the club,in past years, .Contending that it had not added to the popularity of- the club or of rating.

An amendment to refer the proposal to a committee for decision was supported by only 11 members, and the motion was carried by 49.votes to 35.
