INCIDENT AT WASHDYKE
The finish between Night Parade and Pharaoh in the Hunters' Plate at Washdyke last Saturday was marked by boring tactics on tho part of the former, and Pharaoh suffered by being kept out onthe middle of the course throughout the run home., On the other hand, Night Parade also fared badly, as his rider in using every effort to keep him off his rival was unable to use his whip. It was not until the last few strides that Ellis secured fieedom, and he got to woik -\\ith tolling effect.
There was probably every encouragement for the protest that followed, but the stewards in dismissing it considered that there was not sufficient evidence to show that any interference that did take place affected the result of the race. Notice of appeal to the Racing Conference was given, but later the parties concerned decided not to proceed any further in the matter.
