OBITUARY
MR. P. A. YOUNG
The1 death, of Mr. P. A.' Young v w.ho. was until his • retirement a prominent official in the Union Steam Ship Company, occurred at his -residence- at Braemar Flats last evening. . Mr. ■Young was taken ill on Saturday afternoon. • ■'• ■■■'«•'' The late' Mr. Young was born in 1860, and joined the sea. staff (providorin'g) 'of the Union' Company in .1880. In' February, 1803, he , was appointed stores manager of the Auckland branch of the company, and lie was- appointed to the head office ■ staff as assistant' stores manager in July; 1900. In November, 1901, lie went tp -England to attend to the. furnishing of the Moerald, and ho eamo back to New ZealantVin that vessel. He -again left for England in February; 1903, in-connection with the .furnishing ■of the Manuka, and he came back to New Zealand in the Manuka. In 1920 Mr. Young was appointed stores manager at the head office, and came to Wellington with the company's hoadquarters staff in Janu-ary,-1922. Ho retired in 1927.
■ The late Mr. Young, who was popular with .both the sea and shore staffs of .the company, is survived "by a.widow and two sons. ,■
