AUCKLAND TEACHERS

(By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, June 21. The statement that about 480 certificated former students.,of the Auckland Training College were without permailcnt : employment as teachers was mado at ;:a meeting of. the.'Auckland. Education': Board,, when tho secretary supplied figures in' Tesponse: to a request'i'rom the Department. Of this number, ,169, comprising 40 men and 129 women, were not employed at all. The remainder were acting in various temporary capacities. A letter .from 'the Otago Education Board stated that it was of the opinion that too many division C students and University' graduates were ■ being trained and that this had been a fastor in accentuating the unemployment difficulty. The chairman (Mr. T. W. Wells) said that 20 <jf these ex-trainees were ,not in permanent positions. The- board decided to endorse the opinion of the Otngo board.' The Otago board-referred also, to the employment, of additional assistants under a rationing scheme, and asked for particulars of the saving in expenditure in tho Auckland district.
