"BULL BY THE HORNS"

BUILDING SUBSIDY DUNEDIN SUPPORT

(By Telearaph.) i (Special to the "Evening Post.") ■ DUNEDIN, This Day. Strong support for the Unemployed, Board's views on the subsidy scheme on building construction .was given by a well-known Dunedin contractor, who, said: "There is no doubt about it that tho Government has taken the bull by the horns this time. It. finds that it must not only consider- the farmer but the manufacturer and tradespeople as well. As the chairman of the Unemployment Board said, if people in the towns cannot get sufficient to spend the business people cannot carry on." Since the building subsidy was announced, there has been quite a number of inquiries locally, and it is expected that the building trade will be round the corner at the end of the year. People were now prepared to let money out on first mortgage, whereas a year ago they were very reluctant to lend anything. * / .
