PETONE-HUTT GAS BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Petone and j Lower Hutt'Gas Lighting Board'was held; last night. Mr. W. G. Lodder presided, j and there were also pi- escut. Messrs. W. G. Meldrum, D. W. Campbell, A. Shaw) stated that in May 10,095,000 cubic feet of gas: had been manufactured from C 96 tons 17cwt of coal carbonised, giving an average make per ton of 14,483 ciibie feet. The average calorific value of the gas-.wae 464 B.Th.U., and 260,000 cubic feet more of it was itade than in May, 1032. Coal, tar, and coke in stock on June 1 were estimated to be 850 tons' Wcwt, 20,408 gallons, and 49 tons respectively; • The acting-secretary (Mr. O. Silbery) reported that in May, 7 new services, 11 cookers, 3 coppers, 1 caliphont, 2 waterheaters, 3 ftas fires, and 1 hot-plate were installed.
