LODGE MEETINGS

At the half-yearly meeting of Pacific Lodge, U.A.0.D., A.D. Bro. F. Whale presided over a good attendance. The District President (Bro. B. Bray) ,jvas welcomed with the honours of the order. A motion,of condolence with the widow of the late Bro. A. R. Brokenshire was carried, members standing. The bards reported on visits to sick: brethren, and sick pay amounting to £37 15s 4d passed. P.D.P. Bro. Barley reported on the installation of Chapter officers. Bro. Rauken reported on a meeting of W.U.F.S. Council. Bro. Bray, assisted by Bro. Tobiu as M.C., installed the following officers:— J.P.A., Bro. F. Whale; A.D., Bro. R. Ranken; V.A.D., Bro. E, Kctko; secretary, G.T. Bro. F. Mawhinney; treasurer, P.T. Bro. W. Hearn; 1.G., Bro. Wright; 0.G., Bro. D. G. Davis; arch bards, Bros. T. Hearn and G. Cochrane; "V.A. bards, Bros. H. Kuch and D. Alabaster; minute secretary, Bro; F. G. Wakeling; organist, Bro. F. Kuch; M.C., Bro: J. Taylor. Bro. •D. G. Davis was recommended for his P.A. degree and is to be presented with ia collar and diploma. The toast to the visitors was responded, to by the district president (Bro. Ollett presided over the half-yearly meeting of Coronation Lodge, No. 26, U.A.O.D. The Sick Bards' report .was received and sick pay was passed. The secretary presented the balance-sheet, which showed an increase in funds and membership. The delegate to the.Medical .Institute stated that many complimentary reports had been received regarding the services rendered by the medical officers. Reports of visits to Oroua, Acorn, and Mewburn Lodges were received. Bro. Kuch reported that his team had defeated the holders of the Laughton Buttons by 11-5. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded visitors. Th 6 lodge then went into harmony, when several teams played games of indoor bowls. Bro. L. Meehan presided over the quartet ly meeting of ;Mewburii Lodge,-No, 90, U.A.OD. Bro. < Bray (No; 2 District) paid an official-visit,-accompanied by Bro. F. Kuch (No. 21 District). They were received with Druidic honours. Members from Coronation, Island Bay, Pride of Brooklyn, Pacific, Excelsior, and Holly Lodges and the Royal Arch Chapter paid official , visits. The secretary reported on the passing away of Bro. A. R. Brokenshire, who had been the first treasurer of the lodge. Members, standing, passed a motion of condolence. The resignations of Bro. A. J. Cathie (lodge trustee) and Bro. 13. A. Cole (treasurer) were received with regret. Their long and faithful services to the lodge are to be placed on record. The delegate to the Medical Institute reported on the recent quarterly meeting. The following officers were elected for the ensuing term:—A.D., P.A. Bro. J. J. Brownloe; J.P.A., Bro. L. The lodge then adjourned and the installation of the R.A.C. officers was carried out by P.D.P. Bro. H. S. Abel.. . Carr, returned thanks for the welcome and congratulated the teams representing Loyal Northland Lodge (Bro. G. Foam, skip), Coronation Lodge, U.A.O.D. (Bro. .H. J., Austin, skip), and' Court Sir :George Boweii, A.O.F. (Bro. J. E.. Cnapmnn, skip), who were the semi-finalists. He also congratulated the winners, Bro. JV E. Chapman'(skip), J. W. Lawrence, C. F. Worth, and A. W. 0. Travers.' Bro. H. J. Austin presented the cup to Bro. Chapman, skip of the winning team.. Bro. A. W."O. Travers, on behalf of the winning team, thanked members for their kind remarks and hoped that the bond of friendship would continue.
