ROCK GARDEN SOCIETY

The annual report of the .New Zealand Alpine and Rock Garden Society, to be presented.to the annual meeting on June 28, states that during the year membeia had the opportunity of visiting the gaidens of Dr. and Mrs Giesen (Belmont), Mr. and Mrs. Spooner (Lowry Bay , Mi. and Mrs. Hope Gibbons (Lyall-Bay), .Mi. and Mrs. B. Sutherland (Karon), Mr. and Mrs S M. Hobbs and Mr. and Mrs. D. A Ewen (Lower Hutt): It .was hoped to" continue visits' during the coming summer. The director had paid useful visits to several Taranaki towns. . The report recorded with appreciation a gift of six tons of limestone rocks delivered free by Mr. Robert Campbel , of Carterton, the gift of a whole load of rare waterlilies by Messrs. Percy Bros., of Petone, and gifts ot plants from Messrs T Waugh and Son, Duncan and Davies,' C. V. Pilcher, J. K. Anderson, — Rhodes. Evans and Sawyer, and seeds from R. N. Wall. The competitions inaugurated had not been as successful as anticipated, but it was hoped to continue them in another form. The executive thanks the director (Mr. T W. A twood for his valued services, Messrs L.
