ROAD CYCLING
In the Wellington Cycling Centre's first open event of the season, the performance of 0. Disley, (scr), Port Nicholson, in making fastest time was full of merit.'On account of Ulmtir retiring, with,' bike trouble, Disloy had to ride a considerable distance unaccompanied. -.' , J. Bolton (Poneke), who finished fourth, is a keen new boy to the game. He rides from Pahautanui (21 miles) to compete on Saturday afternoons, and with the two Puinti boys from the Port Nicholson Club, is a decided acquisition to Poneke's ranks, as is A. Nankoville, from Christchurch. Several prominent Wellingtonians were absent on account of the annual Palmerston North-Bulls event. Blackctt, o£ Poneke, did best of the- contingent by securing second fastest time- to ■ Lawrence, of j Palmerston North. i The Wellington Cycling Centre is taking a wise course in making early preparation for the annual Palmerston NorthWellington event.. Last season arrangements were left too late. The event will be staged early in October. • The Poneke Club is to'be commended in catering for the juniors, and the success of the club is in- no small measure attributable to this policy.
