The two events conducted by the Wellington Cycling.Centre on Saturday afternoon were heklunder ideal weather conditions. Twenty-six seniors and fourteen juniors competed. In the senior event of 22 miles W. Mitchell (Pon-fTe), who rode a good race, won first place, with G. Stavoley (Hutt Valley.), who is rapidly gaining form,' taking second place and second fastest time. His time was only 2 seconds slower. than that returned by the scratch rider, 0. Disley (Port Nicholson), who had a lone ride. On the first lap the field was led by Netlletoii, Thomas, and McCabe, followed 20 seconds later by Button, then Sparkss one minute .later. Then came Aldridge, Bailley, Mitchell, 25 seconds behind Sparkes. ' Bolton and Eyton were 7 seconds later, followed by Taylor, 26 seconds, then J. Puniti, G. Staveley, Arhdge, and Udall who were riding well. Nankevill and A. Sowerby were 2min 9sec ahead ot Disley at this stage. The other scratch rider," R. Next Saturday- the, Poneke Club is to conduct the first teams race for the Ericsson Shield over a distance of 22 miles. Riders' not nominated for1 this event will contest a race over a 10'/= miles course.
