SATURDAY'S EVENTS

The Scottish Club held a very enjoyable combined run from Lyall Bay with the Wellington Harrier Club. There were 41 memb.ers of the Scottish Club and about 30 members of the Wellington Club present. The trail layers, Messrs. R. White and A. H. Stevens, gave the packs a good eight to nine miles' run, including hill work, which played up with the unfit members. The course, which commenced from the Lyall Bay Surf Sheds, led along the beach, and followed the usual course of the Vosseler Shield race until the top of the hill was reached. It then branched off to the right, followed the ridge of the hills for some distance, and finally came down on to the road at Breaker Bay Cutting. From Breaker Bay the trail led through a portion of Seatoun to the hills at the back of Scots College, thence to the golf links, and home, via Kingsford Smith Street and Freyburg Street. A run-in by Scottish members over the last 150 yds resulted in a win for G. Buchanan, with W. Clements and S. Woodley second and third respecThe' three miles' McVilly Shield teams' race is to be held at Hutt Park on Saturday next. HUTT VALLEY CLUB. The Hutt Valley harriers held their run from Hutt Park Clubroom, twenty-five members turning out to enjoy a twelve miles' trail, comprising road, beach, and hill -work. C. King acted as pacemaker. The trail led from Hutt Park over the Pipe Bridge to Petone Beach, which -was followed to the Woollen Mills, then up the Korokoro Stream, to come out at Normandale, via the Maori bush, then along the hilltops to the back of Belmont. The return journey was made by following the outward trail. Next Saturday the run will be from the residence of Mr. C. King at Belmont. RELAY RACE. The Olympic Harrier Club's relay race from Day's Bay to the Wellington Town Hall resulted in a win for the C team, consisting of Wilson, Nicolaus, List, and McNaught (captain), the time for the distance of 14.15 miles being 79min 15sec. The other teams were as follows:—A team, Myers, Spencer, Oliver, Campbell (captain); B team, Strong, Agnew, Workman, Bezar (captain). The finish was a fairly close one, Bezar being at the Wellington Woollen Company's building in Jervois Quay, and Campbell at the Queen's Wharf gates, when McNaught finished. Campbell gained 2min on McNaught over the last lap. - BROOKLYN. • No official run was set down on the Brooklyn Club's programme for the King s Birthday, but at the invitation of Mr. J. Watterson, a run was held from his residence, 452 Broadway, Miramar. The trail of abuot five miles led from Broadway past the brickworks and Polo Grounds to the tram terminus, where it turned to the top of the hills overlooking Karaka Bay. The road was followed along Seatoun Heights to the signal station, and, after covering part of the Vosseler course, Broadway was again reached via the golf links and Monorgan Road. The runners started off in two packs, but combined early, and a steady pace was set for the greater part of the journey. At afternoon tea, Mr. R. Cowie, club captain, expressed the gratitude of the runners to their host for the very pleasant outing which had been made possible.
