AUSTRALIAN TOUR
WIN FOR NEW ZEALAND
QUEENSLAND BEATEN, 5-1
United Press Association—By Electric Telteraph—Copyright. BRISBANE, June 4. The New Zealand Soccer team defeated Queensland by 5 goals to 1. The teams were as follows: — New Zealand.—Zuill, Stone, Gerard, Stenhouse, Chapman, Crabbe, Blackie, Baker, Kershaw, Groves, and Kay. Queensland. —Williams, Nunn, Shanks, Murray, Love, Gibb, Casey, Campbell, Kitching, Gorring, and Donaldson. The match was played on the Brisbane Exhibition Oval. It was a pleasure to watch the New Zealand forwards sweep in a line upfield in neat triangular passing. They showed form which should extend Australia in Monday's first Test. Drizzling rain slowed play, which, however, was usually very fast. Queensland made a vigorous effort at the opening, and scored the first goal, from a fine shot by Kitching. The New Zealanders then took charge, and goals were scored by Kershaw and Kay before half-time. The finishing off of New Zealand move ments was somewhat erratic in the second half, and the crowd was thrilled to see Zuill aiding his backs to keep Queensland at bay. The New Zealand forwards, however, kept attacking, and Kershaw and Kay again goaled. The fifth goal was a rebound off the Queensland half. Kay and Kershaw were outstanding for New Zealand, and Chapman was a clever half.
