B DIVISION

MIRAMAR'S WIN

,„, Miramar Rangers . beat.. Island Bay. .at Wakefield Park by 4 goals to nil. Miramar held the upper hand and were not pressed at any stage. Their forwards showed more, enterprise and combination than did Island Bay, who gave a ra-ther disappointing display for a B division team. The teams were:— Miramar Rangers.—Gibbons; Coad, L. Tucker; Coveney, Edwards, Minifie; Allott, Thompson, H. Tucker, Scott, Donoghue. Island Bay.—Turner; Mason, Jacqbi; White, Fraser, Hunter; H. Mason, Tricker, Hepburn, Farquharson, Franklyn. After a period of desultory play H. Tucker opened Miramar's score with a finely-placed goal. Island Bay then attempted to break through, but there was no combination between the forwards and centres. Shortly before half-time Thompson scored, and Miramar were on the offensive for the remainder of the spell. Island Bay attacked in the second half, but the forward line were prone to make solo efforts. Gibbons, the Miramar goalie, made some fine saves for a period when he was pressed, but the defence held and play swung into Island Bay territory. Thompson scored when he kicked the ball out of the goalkeeper's hands, and after a further tussle Scott went through at the head of a short passing rush and beat Turner easily. There was no further score, Miramar easing up play and being content to hold their lead. The referee was Mr. E. Dawe.
