Smythe and Shipton attempted to reach the summit on June 1. They turned Back in the same place as Messrs. Wyn Harris and Wagei did. "The next plan depends partly on medical advice and partly on the weather. The two defeats have\been solely due to climbing difficulties, but we are not yet beaten."
