PLAYER DIES OF INJURIES

MR. A. DONALD, OF KOPUARANGA

(By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post") MASTERTON, This Day. Mr; Andrew Donald, eldest son of Mr..and Mrs. Alex. Donald, of Kopuaranga, diediu the Masterton Hospital last evening of head injuries sustained in a football accident on Saturday. Mi. Donald was a member of the Masterton | senior team which played Martinborough at Memorial Park. Tho accident occurred in the second spell. It is reported that Mr. Donald and another member of the same team collided in running for the ball. An inquest will be held. At first it was hoped that Mr. Donald's injuries were not very serious. He spent Saturday night at the home of a relative in Masterton. Yesterday morning,Jiowever, it became clear that his condition was critical. He was taken to the hospital, and died last evening! Tho late Mr. Donald was 31 years of age and was unmarried. He was educated at the Masterton District High School (now the Central School); and for a number of years had been engaged in farming with his brother at Kopuaranga. A fine athlete, .and always ready to take a helpful part in activities for the goo.d of tho district, he was generally respected and esteemed. He was secretary of the Kopuaranga School Committee. Besides being a Eugby player of some note, ho took a keen part in tennis and other sports. The funeral is to take place in Masterton tomorrow. •
