RACING CLUB'S JUBILEE

Beeognition of the splendid progress the Woodville District Jockey Club had made under the long presidency of Mr. S. Boltbn was made by the Hon. E. A. Bansora, Minister of Lands and member for the district, in proposing the toast of the president at a function in the stewards' room celebrating the end of the, club's first fifty years of existence, held during the Jubilee Meeting on Saturday. In congratulating Mr. Bolton * upon his lengthy association with the club, Mr. Bansom remarked that he had, ho believed, been connected in various ways with the club for nearly forty years, of which the last thirty-three had been as president—a wonderful record and one to be proud of. Mr. Bansom said that he himself had been associated with the club for a long period, , and he could testify to the splendid progress made during Mr. Bolton's long term of office. He recognised the many difficulties under which racing clubs laboured today—such as high taxation, and in this connection he had received several representations from the Woodvillfi Club, which were at present Teceiving the serious consideration of the Government. He wished the club continued success, and hoped that Mr. Bolton would long be spared to aid it in its progress. Mr. Bolton briefly responded, and expressed the hope that the club would see another fifty years' outstanding progress.
