PRODUCE & MARKET REPORTS FROM DAY TO DAY

WOOL PRICE IMPROVES

COMBERS VERY BUSY

United Press Association—By Electric Tel»eraph—Copyright. (Received May 29, 9 a.m.) ■' LONDON, May 28. Mr. W. P. Devereux, representative of Australian wool growers in London and on the Continent, reports that the principal feature in the London wool market is the re-entry of the United States as buyers. Their demand is for the superior qualities of warp wools, and that at increased prices, with a further hardening of values. The Continental demand, especially .German, is continued for both merinos and fine to medium crossbreds. Yorkshire competition is- well sustained for all descriptions of wool. The market is steady for merino tops, and prices are displaying a hardening tendency, and combers are very busy. Medium and fine crossbred tops show improvement in price, and a slight improvement in the values of the low sorts is noticeable. . Yarn quotations are well maintained, and the futures market may be described as firm. The Bank of New South Wales is in receipt of the' following cable message from its London office, dated May 26:—"Wool firm at last week's prices. Competition well maintained."
