The northern cyclone was centred this morning off' East Cape and pressure was still low over the Tasman Sea. Cold, squally, and unsettled weather has prevailed, with strong south-east winds, of gale force at places In and north of Cook Strait. Kaln has fallen over most of the North Island and the east coast of the South Island, heavy falls having occurred in the Glsborne area, Gisborne having had as much as 5.63 inches during the past 24 hours. Tho falls have been only light and scattered on the east coast of the South Island, the remainder of this island having had no rain. TODAY'S WEATHER.
