SELECTORS APPOINTED

Mr. A. Stratton and Mrs. Lark were reappointed senior A and senior B selectors respectively at a meeting of the management committee of the W.L.H.A. this week. Mr. E. B. Adams was appointed junior selector. The abilities of tho two senior" selectors arc well known, and tho committee has acted wisely in retaining their services for a further term. Mr. Adams has' not previously acted as a selector, but he has had a wide: experience of hockey, andean be relied upon to choose the best possible team from the large number of players available in the junior grade. The most interesting senior A game last Saturday was'that between Swifts and College Old Girls. The former team were in splendid form and combined beautifully. Miss. K. Miller, in her first game, was not soen to advantage, but the Swifts halves needed very little help. ; Technical Old Girls made their best showing of the season so far against Huia, their fine combination and quick passing movements winning tho game for them. The fault with the Huia forwards was that their wings were much too slow with their centres. The game between University and Karori ended in a draw, no score being registered. Tho University team was considerably weaker than in its previous game, probably owing to the absence of many players on holidaySENIOR B. Tho Wenerei team would be greatly improved if the forwards worked together, better. In the game against Toa, Wenerei lost many chances of scoring by the slowness of the forwards in the circle. After last Saturday Toa and Upper Hutt are the only unbeaten teams in the grade, and" their match should be a most interesting one. JUNIOR. With few exceptions, the biggest fault with junior teams is failure to follow up after hitting the ball. This was very noticeable in the Huia team in the game against Hutt. Had the Huia forwards played further up the field and followed into the circle, they would undoubtedly have scored. There is probably keener competition in the junior grade than in any other. Porteke, Johnsonville, Techuical College, and Centics have all been doing well, and there should be little between them throughout the season.
