"LEG THEORY."
MEDIUM-PACED VARIETY
United Fieu Association—By Sltctrlo Ie!«* cr*pb—Cop/rlebt. - LONDON", May 18. . W. B. Hammond and T. W. Goddard, a medium-pace bowler, exploited -leg theory in the recent match between Gloucestershire and Surrey, Jardine's county. Four fieldsmen were on. the leg side; and the umpire stood at point. The bowlers obtained six wickets from this type of bowling, but P. G. H. Tender was not embarrassed and hit freely, scoring ,59 in 48 minutes. Ho was finally out 1.b.w." to Hammond.
This type of "leg theory" is distinct from that which has given, Tise to much criticism. The distinction has been made by. the use of the term "body-line." ■' '
