HUTT RIVER BOARD
The fortnightly meeting of the HuMj River Board was held yesterday. There! were present Mr. P. J. Jones (chairman)^ and Messrs. M. J. Hodgins, J. Brasell^ and W. T. Strand. • . The chairman reported that the Shau« don Golf Club was concerned ■with, thai fact that its course needed: a heary ex« penditure by way of fertilisers which, ow* ing to the short term of its tease, it was not prepared, to undertake. The board fle'eided to' view the course and discuss the matter of the state of the fairways! with the club. The chairman and the secretary, Mr. A, J. Geai'ing, were appointed to arrange wHh-rhe -Loans Board for the conversion; of certain loans. The Engineer, Mr. 11. Sladden, reported that the work of raising the stopbank iii the Moera district had been completed and that a commencement of a similar work had been made at North Street. The secretary reported that the cost o? the Moera stopbank job was £273 16s. Messrs. Hodgins and the chairman were appointed to represent the board nt a conference of local bodies, to be held ab Petone. to consider the conservation of: Hutt Valley artpsian water. for ;vValley; needs.
