TORONTO CONFERENCE

MR. W. NASH, M.P., A DELEGATE

It was arranged at the meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board last night that Mr. Walter Nash, M.P., who will be in Canada at the time, should be the board's representative to the conference of port authorities to be held in Toronto from September 4 to September !). The chairman (Mr. C. J. B. Norwood) said that while New Zealand was far removed from other countries, and tho nature of its port management was different, it was. desirable that the board should be represented at the conference. Mr. Nash would be there at the time, and he'moved that he be appointed the board's representative, and that he be given the necessary; leave from June 27 until his return. Mr. Nash eaid that he had been asked, with Messrs. Downie Stewart and H. P. yon Haast, to attend the conferences of British Commonwealth Relations at Banff from August, 14 to August 28, and of the Pacific Relations Institute at Toronto from September 5 to.September 14. The Port Authorities' Conference coincided in dates with the latter, and if the board so desired he would be glad to attend it also. He was not attending the other .conferences in his parliamentary capacity. He would be pleased to put before the Port Authorities' conference any matters the board wished, and "t?ould bring back the opinions of the conference upon them. The necessary leave was granted, and the chief executive officer was instructed to prepare the necessary data.
