CONFERENCE OPENED
BREEDERS AND EXPERTS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON ,N., This -Day. Arranged by the Massey Agricultural College and the Romney Marsli 'Sheep Breeders' Association for the purpose of discussing technical matters of importance 'to the sheep and wool industry, a two days' conference' of breeders and research workers was opened at the college this morning by. the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. C. E. Macmillau). Among the others present were Sir W. Perry,'the Hon. Sir George Fowlds (chairman of tho College Council), Dr. E. Marsden (Secretary of the Department of Scientific and . Industrial Research), Professo* Peren (principal of the college),, men* bers of- the governing council, repre* sentatives of the sheep breeders' or* ganisations, and leading men in the in* dustry from all parts of the North I* land. In the course of an address, Sir Wil« liam Perry said that the main ques« tion for the conference was that.wool improvement should be considered tomorrow. This action followed upon a. suggestion.advanced by the Prime Minister after a visit to the college that something in this connection should be done. The- Minister of Lands (tho Hon. E. A. Bansom) and Mr. Macmillan had gone into tho matter and had clecided to attend the conference.
