Diving head first from a Royal Ai* Force bomber at a height o£ 27,00') feet, the parachutist, Mr. John Tranum, is believed to have created a world's re- , cord at Netheravon. ■ ' He delayed the drop, falling like a stone 18,000 feet before expanding the parachute, there* after drifting five miles and narrowly; escaping a tree in landing. The previous record was by aa American, 15,000 feet. ■ .
