CHRISTCHURCH COUNCIL
THE FINAL RETURNS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. With the completion of the official count the new City Council consists of the Rev. J. K. Archer, Mrs.-McCombs, Mr. J. S. Barnett, Miss M. Howard, Messrs. J. Mathison, T. H. Butterfield, and G. T. Thurston (Labour); Messrs. E..H. Andrews, J. W; Beanland, M. E. Lyons, W. Hayward, T. Milliken, and T. Andrews (Citizens' Association); Mr. F.. T. Evans and Dr. H. T. J. Thaeker (Independents); and; Mr. A. E. Armstrong (Socialist). Soven hundred and twenty counts were required under the • proportional representation system tg elect the council. Miss Howard (Labour) has now been properly enrolled, and it is not considered that the election will now be challenged.
