SMALL FARM PLAN
(To the Editor.) Sir,-—Tho. appointment of a Commissioner to supervise tbe administration of the "Small Farm Scheme" has been announced during the last week. This means, I hope, that a conscientious effort is to be made to acquire land of reasonable! quality for the settlement' of the 1200' applicants, who like myself, havo waited twelve months und more for evidence that the legislation passed last session dealing with this matter was' to be made effective. ■If the Government policy is to, sit and wait for land to be brought forward by the farmers then we applicants can look forward to a few more years of navvying. One has only to mention the "farm scheme" on relief jobs to' realise the disappointment created through tlic manner in which this question has been handled Many have waited in patience for twelve months or more and have reluctantly come to the decision that the Government is not sincere in its efforts in this direction. These men have shown their willingness and eagerness for the opportunity to take up work which will, enable them to becoive self-supporting members of the community, . and keep what independence the present system of relief work has left them. They should be accorded the full assistance tho legislation passed last session empowers the Government to give.—l am, etc., S. J. ADAMS.
