At r yesterday's session of the .Anglican Synod a number of reports were presented from committees on social service and inipe'ion work. ... "TJje reports on the woi'k earned out in t|ie-Karon homes snowed that 107 girls had' been cared for. It was also reported that, 76 boys .had been maintained m the home at the Lower Hutt. Good work had been done at the infants' home at Khaudallah, as was also the case in a children.s home at Palmerston North. The latter home, it was stated, hoped to meet its obligations during the coming year, due mainly to the splendid support of' the people of Palmerston North. The reports showed that,in the case of some of theinstitutions there had been a falling off in the revenue, and the necessity for further financial assistance was stressed. The Social Service Board stated that it bad obtained permission from the City Council to hold a street collection on Wednesday, July 19, when it was hoped that the city and Buburbin parishes wnnir) co-operate.
