Mrs. T. C. A. Hislop, Salamanca Road, who has been spending three weeks in Rotorua, has returned to Wellington. Dr. Elizabeth Gunn will leave Wellington at the end of the- month to spend there months in Auckland. Miss Gwcn Peacock, Auckland, who flew to Christchuroli for tho air pageant, has arrived in Wellington by aeroplane, and is the guest of her aunt, Mrs. D. C. Peacock, Kawhiti Terrace. Miss Eileen Crawford and Miss Alison Pcarce left Wellington today for Blenheim, where they will be the guests of Mrs. Dillon for the races. . Mrs. Gilkison, Karori, returned to Wellington from Sydney by.the Monowai, and will return to Australia again shortly. : Mrs. Charles Stericker, who is at present staying with, her mother, Mrs. Brown, at Pendennis, will leave on Saturday to visit her brother at Masterton. . . Mr. and Mrs. B. Gotlieb left Auckland yesterday by the Mariposa for America, en route to Messina, Sicily, where Mr. Gotlieb has been appointed American Consul. Miss Mary Laukovsky, Hawke's Bay, is the guest of Madame O. Benge, Highland Park. Miss Kate Gardner, the well-known English climber, has arrived in Wellington from tho south, and is staying at the Midland Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Lester and their small daughter, who have been spending some time in Australia, arrived in Wellington by the Wanganella, and will leave on Friday by the Rangitata for, their home in England. They are stay-' ing at the Hotel Cecil while in Wellington. Mrs. T. J. Edmonds arrived in Wellington this morning from the South Island. Miss A. L. Loudon, Auckland, has arrived in Wellington to attend the secondary school teachers' conference. Mr. and. Mrs. Gordon. Gibson, Singapore, will arrive In Wellington on Monday, and will spci)d some months in New Zealand. Mrs. Culford Bell and Miss Margery Bell, Auckland, are visiting Welling ton. Mrs. A. S. Taylor, Christchurch, is visiting Paremata. Mrs. George Ellwood, Wellington, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Kenneth Robinson, Christchurch. Mrs. H. Sutton Turner, Wellington, was among recent visitors to Wanaka Hotel, Pembroke. Mr. and Mrs. R. Hudson, Dunedin, arrived in Wellington this morning from the south. Miss Challis Hooper, until recently Plunket nurse at Stratford, is leaving Wellington tomorrow by the Wanganella for Australia, en route to England. Miss Hooper is one of the official delegates to the International Congress of nurses, to be held at Paris and Brussels early in July. After the conference she will return to England, where she expects, in addition to making a holiday trip, to gain valuable and interesting insight into nursing matters, particularly in connection with infant welfare work on "Truby King" lines. Miss Hooper was formerly well known in Dunedin, where she was for six years assistant to Miss, Pattrick, Director of Plunket Nursing,, and also in Wanganui, where she was actingmatron of the Karitane Hospital last year. Miss Phyllis Gray, Kelburn, will leave this evening for a visit to Christchurch. Miss Lucas (Marlborough) and Miss W'helan (Christchurch) are staying at tho Hotel St. George. Mrs. B. Dorrington (London), Mrs. and Miss Coleman (Gisborne), Misj N. Warren (Blenheim), Miss S. D. Crowley (London), Miss L. Crowley and Miss Crowley (Waikato), and Mrs. Roberts (Sydney) are among the guests at the Grand Hotel. Among the guests at the Royal Oak Hotel are Miss M. Munro (Blenheim), Miss J. Wall ■ (Waipukurau), Miss Erskine (Invercargill), and Misses E. and C. James (Greymouth). Among the guests at the Midland Hotel are Mrs. Sholte-Douglas (Oxfordshire; England), Mrs. T. J. Edmonds (Christchurch), Mrs. W. H. Bonham (Auckland), Mrs. E. M. Osborne (Sydney), and Mrs. J. Robertson (Edinburgh).
