FOR LONDON

N.Z. DELEGATION

TWO MINISTERS To_ GO

DEPARTURE THIS WEEK

Cabinet has made a final decision on the question of representation at the World Economic Conference, which is to open in London on Jun« 12, and an official announcement will be made in the very near future. Previously, it was expected that the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) and the Minister of Finance (the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates) would represent New Zealand, but the position is stated to have altered and it is now considered likely that the delegates will be the Prime Minister and the Minister of Industries and Commerce (the Hon; R. Masters). Mr. Coates, it is expected, will re« main in New Zealand and will assume the position of Acting-Prima Minister. It is understood that the delegatioa will leave Wellington on Friday by; the Bangitata, which is scheduled ' to. leave at noon. In the event of it» being found impossible to make tha ' necessary arrangements to leave' by the Eangitata, the official party will probably travel by the ilaunganui, which is not leaving Wellington until Tuesday next. The Bangitata is due in London on. June 14, two days after the opening of the conference, but it is suggested that it might be possible to speed up the vessel in order to enable the delegates to participate in the opening ceremonies. It will be necessary to make a toallocation of portfolios during the absence of the delegation from 'New Zealand, and this will probably be announced by Mr. Forbes prior to hi» departure. Mr. Forbes will also probably make some 'announcement regarding the data of the opening of the session of Parliament. When the House adjourned earlier this year it was generally considered that members would not ba asked to meet again until August, and this .arrangement may be adhered to. The fact that Mr. Forbes is absent from Now Zealand will not necessitate a postponement of the session, and i» any event it is not likely that tha New Zealand delegation will be absent much longer than the middle of September. «_„_—.
