THE IMPOKTEBS' CASE

AN AUCKLAND ENDORSEMENT

• At a meeting of the directors of the Auckland Importers' Association held last week, the following resolution was passed:—"That this association places on record its appreciation of the vigorous manner in which the president of the New Zealand Importers' Federation (Mr. Edwin Salmond) has stated the case for the importers, and expresses its full approval of the arguments and facts adduced by him in his recent public pronouncements. It disagrees entirely with the views ■which were attributed to importers by the Rt. Hon. Mr. Coates in his'attempt to controvert Mr. Salmond's statements, and considers that he has entirely failed to estimate the weight of;public opinion against the Government's action as expressed by business associations and commercial organisations generally throughout the Dominion."
