LODGE MEETINGS

The fortnightly --meeting .'of .-Cleveland Lodge, No; 13, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held at Brooklyn last week, Brp.-.L./W.-Pen-ney presiding dyer • a fair _attendance. Visitors present included Bro. Rudkin, D.D.G.M., and Bro. X, Mathers. Reports were received, including one from the dispensary delegate, who reported that no increase was to be made in dues, lor that benefit. A challenge was entered for the Cribbage ; Shield. The quarterly circular from Grand Lodge was read and contents noted, especially that portion dealing with; the proposed formation of a lodge in London. , ■ . Onslow Lodge, No. 128, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting recently, Bro. A. R. Thomas,, N.G., presiding over a fair attendance. The N.G. reported on ] tlie church parade, and thanked the brethren for their attendance. ',„.., The fortnightly • meeting ,of Wildey Lodge, No. 107, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., IslandBay was held recently, when Bro. \V. h. Hammond, N-G.. presided over a very good gathering. Medical and general accounts were passed for payment. The auditors' report was received, and reports from all. committees were adopted. ■.-Invitations to socials were received from; kindred lodges, members deciding to attend same. Bros. Churchill and 'Mauley were elected sick visitors, Bro. A. J. Holding was re-elected delegate ,to the Medical Institute! and Bro. Manley delegate to the District Medical Fund. Several members volunteered to serve oh the social committee. Routine business concluded, the lodge was closed to allow of a card tourney to be played. Community .singing, with organ accompaniment, terminated thNa eguiwa Lodged No. 152,' 1.0.0.F:, N.Z., held its regular meeting recently, Bro. Johnson, N.G.> presiding over a fair attendance. Accounts totalling £19 4s Id were, passed,for payment. Bro. L. a. Robertson Taylor was appointed as trustee Bro. Stewart, of Bellevue Lodge, and Bro. Peterson, of Heretaunga Lodge, were vfeitorsy and were accorded a vote of welcome. Several brother* reported visiting other lodges, and conveyed greetings from the lodges visited. During the. evening a discussion regarding lodge funds was Vkiwi-Iti Rebekah Lodge, No. ,«, 10 0.F., ■■N.Z., held its regular meeting recently at Lower Hutt, • Sister V. MePhee, N.G., presiding over a goooV attendance. Bro. H. L. Rule, D.D.G.M and suite were present.- The election of. the various committees was proceeded with, the standing committee appointed being Sisters Laurence, Mitchell, Westrup, Parry, and Bro. McPhee; auditors, bisters Bargh, Pack, and AVestrup; ■ sick visitors, Sister McPhee; eocial committee, Sisters Condren, Laurence, Weartrup, Mitchell N. Mitchell, McPhee, and Macdonald. Two candidates were nominated for membership. Lodge business concluded, all adjourned ior cards and comthe Valley Rebekak Lodge, No 57, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting recently at Upper Hut , Sister Poole, N.G., presiding over a good attendance. Members of toeoi Wellington Victoria, Esther, O-Kiwi-Iti, and Star ot Petone Lodges were present on ofhcia visits. Brother Rule, D.D.G.M., and suite were present for . the installation of officers for the ensuing term as follows:— N.G., Sister Bailey; recording eecretary. Sister Gamble; financial secretary, Sister Culling; treasurer, Sister Bird; warden, Sister Bremner; conductor. Sister Hercock, chaplin, Sister Saggers; R.S.N.G^ bister fflen; L.S.NXi., Sister ■ Com^; RSV.G., Sister Pym; L.S.V.G., bistel Tatiianr 1.G., Sister Grover. A vote of welcome was accorded the visitors. Bro Rule wished the new -officers a successful ferm ol office. Fraternal greetings were conveyed from Wellington District, Vic'S Esther, Rose of AVelhngton, Star of Petone, O-Kiwi-Iti, and Kupe Lodges and Port Nicholson Encampment. Lodge business ending, the remainder of the evening was spent in dancing . Loyal Newtown Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., have had pleasant meetings recently, when Bro. S. Eades, N.G., assisted by Bro. G. Lezzatt, V.G., presided over good attendances Two new members and. two honorary members have recently been, initiated. Bros. W. Allcock and A. Archer I delivered the L.M.'s address.. The tornbiried social was a great success, the lodge room being rather too small for the great number who attended. A vote on the question of discontinuing the . monthly visits was defeated. A visit from Kilbirnie Lodge in their quarterly effort to retain the Telford "Five Hundred Cup, was a very happy gathering and resulted in Newtown winning by 14 games to 5. At the last meeting Bro. J. 0 Callaghan made a presentation to the lodge of an enlarged portrait of the late Bro. Reg. Bell. Bro. Eades received the gift on behalf of the lodge. \ - ■_ The Sons of Temperance Lodge held its usual meeting recently. Bro. A. Gamon, W.P., presided over a good attendance. Bro. Parsons, F.S., who represented the society at the annual meeting in Christchurch, gave a full report of the proceedings, pointing out the fact that the society was in a strong financial position. With a membership of 550 the Order his. a balance of £31,000. Bro. Gamon, W.P., presented Bro. Parsons with a lodge jewel for having passed through the Cr.W.P. chair for the third time. Only one member was reported to be on the sick list.
