Dalgety and Co. have received the following cablegram from Samuel Page and Son, London, May B:—"New Zealand cheese, white 42s to 43s per cwt, coloured 50s. New Zealand' butter, 745." Prices on May 4 were: Butter, 72s to 745; white cheese shows a rise of Is, coloured' 3s per cwt. . The Bank of New South Wales is advised by its London office, May 5, as follows: —"Butter, 74s per cwt; cheese, white 43s and coloured 405." . From July 1, 1932,- to April 10, 1933, 3 707,483 boxes of butter have been shipped from Australia,'or 660,300 boxes more than for the corresponding period of last season. Shipments to Britain are 23 per cent, greater than for last year, and all States exported more butter than they did for the same period in 1931-32, according to an announcement by the Minister of Commerce (Mr. Stewart). Details are as follows:—Exports, July 1 to April 10, 1933: To United Kingdom, 3,480,971 boxes; to other countries, 226,512; total, 3,707,483 boxes, or 92,687 tons. Exports, July 1 to April 15, 1932: To United Kingdom, 2 822,501-boxes; to other countries, 224,683; total, 3,047,186 boxes, or 76,179 tons. Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd., have received from their principals, Trengrouse and Nathan, Ltd., London, the following cabled advice, dated May B:—"New Zealand butter: 75s per cwt. Firm. New Zealand cheese: White 435, coloured 51s. Both firm."
