The Port Nicholson • Amateur Road Cycling Club opened its season on Saturday afternoon with a nineteen miles race. K. Perry, off the limit mark, was the' winner, and 0. Disley (lmin) made fastest time. . .1 The starting point was in Salek Street, Kilbirnie, and the race Was, run via Coutts Street, through Broadway aild Seatoun tunnel, around Worser. Bay and Karaka Bay Road to Salek Street, and then around tho course again to the finish at the Miramar Wharf straight. The winner, Perry, with a 9min handicap, set a fast pace over the first lap and kept a sufficient lead to win comfortably by more than two minutes from J. Arlidge (4m)n), who had P. Eyton (5 mm) on his wheel. Disley, from the lmin mark, put up a good performance to gain fastest time. It was too early in the season for the scratch man, P. N. Robinson, to show anything of his best form> A three miles junior race was held after the seniors had been dispatched. It was won by B. Beadle, off 2%min. and Long' hurst, from scratch, gained fastest time. Before the start of the senior race, the club's patron, Mr. A. E. Thomas, in a brief speech, declared the season officially open. Results, with handicaps and actual riding times, were as follows:— Senior Race. 'R. Perry (9min), 50min 48see ...... 1 J.
