BERHAMPORE V. MELROSESELWYN
At, Wakefiehl Park, rushing forward tactics were relieved at times by flashes of individual brilliance. Both Berhampore and' Melrose-Selwyn went all out from the start, but faulty handling and off-side play spoiled several opportunities. The teams were:—Mel rose: , Wilda; Sullivan, Unsworth, Capper; Welsh, McInnes, Holmes; Hunter, Hiscoek. Lafwb; Cole, Fowler; Cooch, Turnbull, Still. Berhampore: Jaekman; Cullcy, Forbes, Handley; McGce, Wildcrmoth, McCauley; Love, Powell, Bosrrmda; Mason, Cameron; Jenkins, Dutch, Millar. There was no scoring in the first spell,
and at the start of tho second spell fifteen minutes of open play ended in Fowler scoring close in. alter a brilliant opening had been made by Cole. Mclnnes converted. Play then spread over the field, Holmes once narrowly missing a pot. Unsworth put over a penalty goal for Melrose, after which Melrose forwards attacked strongly. Fowler got across well out, a try which Unsworth failed to convert. The game ended with Melrose the victors, 11-0. i Mr. H. Simmonds was referee.
