Mrs. H. Chisholm presided at the recent meeting of the Wellington Women's Christian Temperance Union. Ar apepal was Tead for help for the soup kitchen of the British Sailors' Society, also for the "street appeal of the Y.W.C.A. on May 24. As these -were regarded as both necessary and useful works, help was promised. The financial statement read by Mrs. Webb showed a credit balance of £5 16s Bd. Next month a social afternoon will be held. Mrs. Chisholm gave a summary of the social side of the convention held recently in Invercargill. One fact referred to was that the Wellington dog tax contributed more to the City revenue than hotel licences.Tea was served by Mesdames Porter and King, and the meeting closed with the pronouncement of the Benediction.
