RIFLE SHOOTING

On Saturday last the Petone Rifle Club fired the final shoot of the season over 500 and 600 yards ranges. At 500 yards the conditions were good, but at 600 yards a changeable wind made accurate shooting out of the question. R. H. Nickoll, with 49 at 500 yards, and T. B. Richards, with 46 at 600 yards, scored the best range scores.

T. J. Chapman, 46, 40, 2—88; B. Dunn (visitor), 47, 39, 0—86; A, Petherick, 30, 31, 19—80. , The championship was won by R. H. Nicholl -with, a-margin of 19 points from A. H. O'Donnell. He has been shoooting brilliantly right through the season, and is heartily congratulated by bis club mates.! J. Ashman, who has also been shooting well, won the B grade championship, with \V. Scambary runner-up. W. Cume, by consistent shooting, won the C grade championship, with T. B. Richards runner-up The first series over short ranges resulted:—J. Ashman 276, E. A. Ballhiger 275, W.
