MAY NOT RACE AGAIN
Although the pacer Bell o' Mine did not appear to receive a very severe fall when she reared and plunged before the start of the Wanganui Handicap last Saturday, it was evident before half a mile had been covered that she was unable to put aiiy dash into her work. ■ At the end of a mile she was under the whip, but dropped right back and was finally eased up. Later it was found that she had broken a blood vessel in her head. W. Pope stated that she was in a bad way and he was not sine whether she would be able to'race again. Belle o' Mine has been a good performer over all distances this season, and showed rave promise as a two-miler when she won the Manawatu Plate in imin Msec, and again at Hawera, where she was second in the Cup, and won the Waimate Plains Handicap. She is a daughter of Wairou Belle, who paid the sensational dividend or over £1000 at Nelson -some years ago.
