I An interesting function .took place atf | the pavilion of the Seatouh Bowling and j Tennis Club, Ltd., when the Tennis Club 1 held its annual social and dance to mark ' the official closing of tho season._ Tha i function this year was tof especial inteiw ' est to members and friends of the club* las in conjunction with the presentation' ■o£ trophies the club was celebrating the twenty-first anniversary of its formation^ and the pavilion was crowded, i Mr. W. L. Page, the club's patron, be* fore presenting the trophies won during 1 the 1932-33 season, gave a historical sketch of the formation of the Seatouq Bowling and Tennis Club, Ltd., in 1912* and1 of the 'subsequent progress (of the; tenriis club in particular. During supper] the following toast list was honoured:—< "The King" (Mr.' W, L.'Page); "Ths Club" (Mr. H. N.Dinns, secretary, Wei* lington Lawn Tennis, _ Association, re* sponded to by the president of the club< Mr. D.' I?. Richmond); "Kindred Clubs'' (Air. D. R. Richmond, responded to by Mr. G. Warring (University Tennij Club). ■ ' " ■ A unique feature of the occasion yna the special birthday cake. This comprised two tiers, and cm the top was a'complete miniature tennis court, with net and urn« pile's stand, whilq round the edge wcr«j 21 candles. ■ ' . . t The candles were lit by. Mrs.'W. L, Pago, Mrs. JVR. Richmond, Mr. D. R. Richmond, Miss E. Bell; a prominent! player, and Mr. A. S. Muvie, a prominent official. The cake was cut by Mr. R. P, Cooper (chairman of the committee), thq member with the' longest active con* ncction with the club.
