HUTT VALLEY RECOUNTS
DRAW FROM A HAT
Mr. A. J. McCurdy retains his position as Mayor of Upper Hutt by nine votes, according to the official count, which was completed today. Mr. P. Robertson was socond, and Mr. J. Blewman third on the poll. At Petone, Mr. D, M. Diclcson and Mr. W. H. Edwards each, polled the same number of votes in the Borough Council election, and as their position was last oh the list of elected councillora it was necessary that one should stand down. Their names/were drawn from a hat, Mr. Edwards being the lucky one, and he tyas accordingly declared elected. This brings the Lab- j
our strength on the council to four out of the nine seats. Only ono Labour man held office on the last council. The results of the official counts in the Hutt Valley, additional to thoso in yesterday's "Post," aro as follows:— UPPER HUTT. _ Mayoralty. A. J. McCurdy '.. 564 P. Robertson 555 J.
