MeGrath and Quist (Australia) defeated Perry and Olliff (England), the holders of the championship, 8-6, 7-9, 7-5, ■ 6-3. In the fourth round of the women's singles Miss Helen • Jacobs (U.S.A.) defeated Mrs. Fcarnlcy Whittiugstall (England), 0-11, 6-1, b-13. In the semi-finals Miss Jacobs defeated Miss M. Ilceley (Britain), 6-S, 6-1, 6-4; Miss D. Round (England) defeated Mmc. E. Mathieu (France), the holder, 6-1, 7-5. In the first round of the Davis Cup at Florence Kukuljavie and Palladia (Yugoslavia) defeated Morpurgo and llado (Italy), 12-14, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4, 0-3. At Wiesbaden, Nournoy (Germany) defeated Bogdadlcy (Egypt), 8-6, 6-1, 6-1; Yon Cramm (Germany) defeated Wahid (Egypt), 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. At Tho Hague, Timmer (Holland) defeated Hebda (Poland), 6-3, 642, 6-2; Tloczynski (Poland) defeated Hughan (Holland), 6-,1, 6-2, 6-2. ' At Budapest, Satoh (Japan) defeated Gabrowitz (Hungary), C-4, 6-3, 6-3. Nunoi (Japan) defeated You Kttuling (Hungary), 4-6, 8-6, 6-3, 6-1.
