SUNDAY, at 7 p.m. SUBJECT: "WHY AND FOR WHOM DID CHRIST DIE?" THE OBJECT OF THIS ADDRESS is to show from the Scriptures that although Jesus was "without sin" (in character), it was necessary in the purpose of God that He (Jesus) should die the death on the Cross:— (1) BECAUSE Christ came "in the flesh." (2 John 7, Hebs. 2:14-17, 2 Cor. 5:21, Roms. 1:3, etc.). (2) BECAUSE, on account of the Edenic transgression with its resultant sentence, "flesh" (human nature) ia "sinful flesh" (Roms. 8:3), in which "dwelleth no good thing" (Roms. 7:18), and consequently "profiteth nothing" (John 6:63) —therefore - the condemnation—death—God has passed upon "flesh" is both just and righteous and Jesus coming "in the flesh" (althought (Sinless in character) was subject to that, condemnation. (Roms. 8:3, Hebs. 2:14, Hebs. 9:26, 1 John 3:8, Roms. 5:12.) (3) BECAUSE "without shedding of blood is no remission" (Hebs. 9:22) — and Christ's blood was shed "first for His own sins, and then for the people." (Hebs. 7:27, Hobs. 9:11-12, Hebs. 13:20.) (4) THAT "the people" for whom His blood was shed are "all them that obey Him" (Hebs. 5:9, John 15:13-14), firstly in recognising the righteousness of God in requiring human nature to suffer death, by submitting to the symbolical death Christ appointed, i.e., baptism in water, following a belief of the Gospel (Mark 16:15-16, John 3:3-7), and then rising to "walk in newness of life" (Roms. 6:4), by crucifying "the flesh with the affections and lusts." (Gals. 5:24, Roms. 8:1, Roms. 8:13, Roms. 13:14, 2 Cor. 7:1, Gala. 6:B,|Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 26, Rev. 3:5, 12, 21, etc.). Questions invited No collection. Literature free. /CHRISTIAN SCIENCE.
