HOLMDALE ADRIFT What is regarded &s an attempt to .■block the sailing of th& Nelson ferry steamer Arahura was made last evening, when, the aterr. linenf the steamer Holmdalc, which was berthed at No. 6 south Queen's Wharf, was cut. A wire, hawser was quickly mn out from the ship's bow.to prevent her from, swinging at rj "it angles to the wharf, and bumping against the Arahura, which was berthed, opposite, and-*the Harbour Board pilot staff set about ■ getting the Holmdale back to her berth. A lino from tho Holmdale's stern was put aboard the Orepuki, which was lying at the No. 6 north berth, and takci to her forward windlass. The Holmdale had drifted to ' Tvithiu a fey feet' of the Arahura, but there jras sufSeie-nt steam on the Ore-
puki to enable' tho llolmdalo to Tie hold in position while the Arahura backed out. The Arahura sailed at 9.30 p.m., two hours lai c.• She had been delayed at first by waiting for racehorses, and then by tho cutting adrift of tlio HolmdUe.
