MANY GOOD BAGS

FAVOURABLE CONDITIONS

(Special to "The Evenlnj Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day. Success attended many sportsmen on Monday, the opening day of the shooting season, and in Southern Hawkc's Bay the limit fell to many guns. All the likely spots were visited by parties of sportsmen, and few, if any, returned without bulging bags. A party of eight, consisting of Messrs. W. G. Sellar (Masterton), G. H. Slater (Hastings), A. E. Brittain (Eketahuna), K. G. Smith (Woodville), G. H. Morgan (Woodville), R. N. Smith (Woodville), W. W. Cook (Palmerston North), and Major Potter (Palmerston North) visited Mr. R. G. Smith's lagoon at Woodville and secured tho limit of 160 duck. Another party of six on Mr. Frank Ormond's property bagged 120. Five guns on Mr. Macintosh's lagoon accounted for 38, Mr. Holden's three guns securing 58, while Messrs. Nelson and Hartridge got tho limit of ;40. These were.all in the Woodville area. At Kumeroa, a few miles away, Mr. T. Kearin's party of four guns bagged 58, while Messrs.. Little and Dunford secured 40. Sportsmen report that the weather was cloudy with a slight breeze, and conditions were very favourable. Th<; birds came all ways and the sport was the best for many years.
